Baseball Game Preview: Dade Christian Warriors vs. ABF Academy Cowboys

The Dade Christian Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the ABF Academy Cowboys at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Dade Christian's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so ABF Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Last Tuesday, Dade Christian didn't have quite enough to beat Southridge and fell 7-6.

Dade Christian got a good showing from Alejandro Fernandez, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Juan Rivera Jr and Alexander Mendoza Jr stepped up to the plate in a big way. Rivera Jr went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Mendoza Jr scored three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most RBI Rivera Jr has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Felix Jimenez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases.

Meanwhile, ABF Academy suffered their biggest defeat since February 23, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against Key West, falling 11-1. The Cowboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jose Zerpa was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Dade Christian's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-4. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for ABF Academy, their record now sits at 0-2.

Dade Christian might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from ABF Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Dade Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
