Softball Preview: Washington Hatchets vs. Bloomfield Cardinals

The Washington Hatchets will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Bloomfield Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

Washington lost 14-1 to Gibson Southern on Thursday.

Washington saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braleigh Armes, who went 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Bloomfield lost 13-1 to South Knox on Thursday.

Lila Koontz was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Koontz has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Koontz was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Washington's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Bloomfield, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-8.
