Baseball Recap: Menendez's Win Ends Eight-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Menendez). They were the clear victor by an 11-4 margin over the Nease Panthers on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Falcons considering their one-run performance the match before.

JR Norton made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 6.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.

In other batting news, Reeve Power was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Lucas Drake, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Menendez's victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6. As for Nease, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Menendez Falcons challenge Fleming Island Golden Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Nease, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Tocoi Creek at 6:30 p.m. Tocoi Creek's pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so Nease's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
