The McHenry Warriors will take on the Jacobs Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. McHenry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, McHenry made easy work of Crystal Lake Central and carried off a 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Caitlyn Carlisle spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Natalie Bender, who fired off two home runs and seven RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlee Cape, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: McHenry kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are 11-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Jacobs came up short against Cary-Grove on Thursday and fell 8-5. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Audrey Wetzel was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Talia Disilvio, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
McHenry is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-13 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Jacobs, their loss dropped their record down to 14-19.
Everything went McHenry's way against Jacobs in their previous meeting on Tuesday, as McHenry made off with a 17-4 win. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
