Holy Cross was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt an 87-19 defeat at the hands of the Geneva Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1406th, while the Eagles are ranked 277th).

Maegan Riebel was her usual excellent self, going 16 for 21 on her way to 43 points and five steals for Geneva. The contest was Riebel's 13th in a row with at least ten points. Kyra Petty was another key player, going 6 of 8 on her way to 16 points along with eight assists and seven steals.

Holy Cross' loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Geneva, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holy Cross will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on McCollum at 12:00 p.m. on December 30th. Geneva will take on New Braunfels Christian Academy in a holiday battle at at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
