Soccer Game Preview: Columbus vs. Grand Island

The Columbus Discoverers will challenge the Grand Island Islanders at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Columbus fell victim to Lincoln East and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 4-0 to the Spartans. That's two games in a row now that Columbus have lost by exactly four goals.

Meanwhile, Grand Island faced Lincoln Southeast in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Islanders fell just short of the Knights by a score of 2-1. Grand Island's loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Their goal came courtesy of Kevin Sanchez, who's now up to 13 this season.

Grand Island now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Columbus, they dropped their record down to 3-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
