Softball Recap: Eight Straight Road Wins for Barren County

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Barren County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Green County Dragons. The win was nothing new for the Trojans as they're now sitting on three straight.

Kaitie Elmore was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Lily Elmore was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Barren County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive contests.

Barren County's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Green County, they moved to 7-10 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Barren County will challenge Allen County-Scottsville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Green County, they will face off against Ballard at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dragons will need to watch out since the Bruins have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
