Basketball Recap: Providence Comes Up Short

Providence was the 65-53 winner over Grant when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Providence Pioneers were just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 66-65 to the Grant Lancers. That's two games in a row now that the Pioneers have lost by just one point.

RONALD MERRILL was his usual excellent self, putting up 26 points and seven rebounds for Grant. MERRILL has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. NOAH LETT was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Providence and nudges their season record down to 10-12. As for Grant, they pushed their record up to 11-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Providence will challenge EF Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Providence is facing EF Academy at the right time seeing as EF Academy is stuck on a five-game losing streak. Grant has already played their next game, an 87-56 victory against Verdugo Hills on the 3rd.
