Basketball Game Preview: Azle Hornets vs. Granbury Pirates

The Azle Hornets will challenge the Granbury Pirates at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Azle has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 20.

On Tuesday, Azle came up short against Saginaw and fell 50-43. While the Hornets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Rough Riders 15-10 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Granbury earned a 39-26 victory over Saginaw on Friday. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while the Rough Riders are ranked 627th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Granbury's win bumped their record up to 17-12. As for Azle, their loss dropped their record down to 6-22.

Things could have been worse for Azle, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 43-24 loss to Granbury in their previous meeting back in December of 2024.
