Basketball Recap: Streetsboro Takes a Loss

Streetsboro was the 51-33 winner over Field when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Rockets were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 51-50 to the Falcons. While the Rockets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Falcons 17-12 in the first quarter.

Streetsboro's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braden Hodge, who posted 13 points and five steals. Hodge continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Roscoe, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards.

Streetsboro has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Field, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Streetsboro will take on Kenston in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rockets will need to watch out since the Bombers have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. Field and Marlington will compete for holiday cheer at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons will be up against the Dukes' rather soft defense (which has allowed 54 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
