Volleyball Recap: Walsh Jesuit Takes a Loss

Walsh Jesuit was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Austintown-Fitch Falcons, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

While Walsh Jesuit ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-18, 25-17.

Austintown-Fitch was led to victory by Rylie Simons and Elizabeth Sherwood. Simons had 24 assists and nine digs, while Sherwood had seven digs and two aces. Simons has been hot for a while, having posted 16 or more assists the last 29 times she's played.

Walsh Jesuit's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Austintown-Fitch, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Walsh Jesuit has already played their next game (against Lake), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Austintown-Fitch, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against West Branch on the 21st.
