Football Recap: Tuscola Piles Up the Points Against South Caldwell

Tuscola had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 36-point drubbing they dealt South Caldwell on Friday. The Mountaineers claimed a resounding 42-6 victory over the Spartans. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Mountaineers had established a 22-point advantage.

Tuscola was led to victory by Sam Trantham and Jett Bartley. Trantham rushed for 147 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries, while Bartley rushed for 71 yards and one touchdown. The dominant performance also gave Bartley a new career-high in passer rating (149.3).

Tuscola didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Elijah Pruitt and James Launer. Launer got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Tuscola now has a winning record of 2-1. As for South Caldwell, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tuscola will challenge North Henderson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Mountaineers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for South Caldwell, they will host North Gaston at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
