Basketball Recap: Lakewood Takes a Loss

Lakewood lost against Normandy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lakewood Rangers took a 46-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Normandy Invaders. While the Rangers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Invaders 10-5 in the first quarter.

Leading Normandy to victory were Keilei Anderson and Lindsay Meriwether. Anderson posted 14 points, while Meriwether went 5 of 11 on her way to 11 points. Meriwether has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sofia Szymczak, who earned six points.

Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Normandy, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6.

Lakewood will head out on the road to take on Rocky River at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rocky River will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Lakewood surely won't give up without a fight. As for Normandy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 44-39 defeat against Westlake on the 3rd.
