After a string of five wins, Shullsburg's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 3-1 to the Highland Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 23-25, 25-23, 25-16.

McKinley Russell paced Shullsburg's offense, picking up 18 kills. Russell got some help from Kallie Timmerman and her 43 assists. Lily Woodworth and Hailey Alt kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

Highland had a senior duo take command as BRINLEIGH BOLLANT had 22 digs and four assists and SUMARYN HALVERSON had eight digs and two aces. BOLLANT is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last nine games she's played.

Shullsburg's loss dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Highland, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 20-4.

As of now, neither Shullsburg nor the Cardinals have any future games scheduled.
