Baseball Recap: Whitefish Comes Up Short

Whitefish had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 4-6 to make it four. They fell just short of the Bigfork Vikings and Valkyries by a score of 7-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings and Valkyries this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-3 on April 3rd.

As for Bigfork, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

For Bigfork's part, Hayden Mayer was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Mayer has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Cavin Wiest, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whitefish will face off against Frenchtown at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bigfork, they will challenge Noxon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
