Softball Game Preview: Plainfield Central Wildcats vs. Oswego East Wolves

The Plainfield Central Wildcats will face off against the Oswego East Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Plainfield Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Plainfield Central had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Bolingbrook on Monday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 10-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won three in a row.

Jamie Crawford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Maeve Carlton was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Patterson, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Plainfield Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bolingbrook only managed four hits.

Meanwhile, Oswego East unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 16-4 to Kaneland. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wolves have suffered since April 24th.

Katie Maday was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Oswego East's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Plainfield Central, they now have a winning record of 11-10-1.
