Recap: Tri-City Tornadoes vs. Riverton Hawks
The Tri-City Tornadoes suffered their biggest defeat since January 2nd on Saturday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 54-34 walloping at the hands of Riverton. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Tri-City has suffered against Riverton since December 10, 2019.
Gage Shafer and Casey Whittington certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Shafer scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and three steals, while Whittington scored six points.
Tri-City's defeat dropped their record down to 2-20. As for Riverton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.
Tri-City will head out on the road to square off against Mt. Pulaski at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Pulaski is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Riverton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Olympia at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Olympia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 498th, while Riverton is ranked 148th).
