Softball Recap: Madera Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Madera couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Clovis North Broncos by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Broncos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-3 back in March.

Malea Ricks and Savana Cortez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Ricks went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Cortez went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Ricks has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played.

Madera's defeat dropped their record down to 18-9. As for Clovis North, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-5-2.

Madera does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Clovis North, they will take on Stockdale at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Broncos 2.6, the Mustangs 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
