Baseball Recap: Ripon Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Escalon, Ripon was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Edison Vikings a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Indians' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Joseph Molthen made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one double.

In other batting news, Michael Faria was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Brayden McDowell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Ripon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Ripon's win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Edison, they moved to 8-11-1 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Ripon has already played their next matchup, a 7-5 loss against Hilmar on the 23rd. As for Edison, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 8-6 victory against Tokay on the 23rd.
