The Madison County Cowboys will face off against the Godby Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Thursday, Madison County got the win against Cottondale by a conclusive 9-1.

Kannon Plain was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Madison County is 3-1 when Plain posts three or more hits, but 7-9 otherwise.
In other pitching news, Mar'Kevian Stephens tossed a big game, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has become a key player for Madison County: the team is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-8 otherwise.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Alden Richie, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Micah Newman, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.
Madison County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Godby played in-conference for the first time on Wednesday and got just the result they were looking for. They put the hurt on Rickards with a sharp 15-3 victory. The game was the first time the Cougars have beaten the Raiders on their field since April 11, 2022.
Jaylen Roque made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Roque was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played.
In other batting news, Martin Crawford was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Edwin Ramirez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
The win made it two in a row for Godby and bumps their season record up to 5-11. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Madison County, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
