Baseball Recap: Eastern Hancock Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Heritage Christian, Eastern Hancock was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They skirted past the Seton Catholic Cardinals 1-0. The victory continues a trend for the Royals in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won four in a row.

Caleb Retherford made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Eastern Hancock's record now sits at 3-11-1. As for Seton Catholic, they dropped their record down to 4-10 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Coming up, Eastern Hancock will challenge Randolph Southern at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rebels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.27 runs per game on average), something the Royals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Seton Catholic, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Oldenburg Academy at 5:30 p.m.
