Basketball Game Preview: St. Mark's Spartans vs. St. Elizabeth Vikings

St. Mark is 2-8 against St. Elizabeth since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The St. Mark's Spartans will look to defend their home court against the St. Elizabeth Vikings at 7:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

St. Elizabeth will be up against a hot St. Mark's squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. St. Mark's claimed a resounding 78-44 victory over Red Lion Christian Academy. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Delaware basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Lions are ranked 52nd), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, St. Elizabeth hadn't done well against Salesianum recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Sunday. St. Elizabeth blew past Salesianum 70-31. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

St. Elizabeth is also on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points per game. As for St. Mark's, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

St. Mark's lost to St. Elizabeth at home by a decisive 63-45 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can St. Mark's avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
