Basketball Recap: East Laurens Falls Despite Big Games from Mckayela Tanner and Deanna Lowther

East Laurens easily dispatched Northeast last Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The East Laurens Falcons fell just short of the Bleckley County Royals by a score of 50-47 on Friday. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Royals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

East Laurens' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Deanna Lowther, who posted seven points and nine rebounds, and Mckayela Tanner, who had ten points along with five assists and five steals. Lowther is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Givens, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

East Laurens' loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Bleckley County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.

East Laurens didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 80-38 win against Dublin on the 7th. As for Bleckley County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 49-45 defeat against Dodge County on the 4th.
