Softball Recap: Poly Takes a Loss

Poly extended their losing streak to five on Saturday, dropping them down to 5-6. They lost 8-0 to the Venice Gondoliers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Parrots of the 13-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Poly saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was IZZY DIAZ, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Venice, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-7. Considering they have won seven matchups by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

On Venice's side, Violet Ascencio tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. Ascencio has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Sandy Carrera was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Evan Ashley was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Poly will challenge Verdugo Hills at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Venice, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 10-2 win against Sylmar on the 11th.
