Basketball Game Preview: Fairland Dragons vs. Marietta Tigers

Fairland is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Marietta is on a 12-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Fairland Dragons will host the Marietta Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Thursday, Fairland really took it to Chesapeake for the full four quarters, racking up a 59-21 win. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-3.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Marietta against Federal Hocking on Monday as the squad secured a 79-49 victory. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Lancers are ranked 112th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fairland is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 40 points. As for Marietta, their win bumped their record up to 19-0.

Everything came up roses for Fairland against Marietta in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 76-32 victory. Will Fairland repeat their success, or does Marietta have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
