Softball Recap: Miami Beach Finds Playoff Glory Versus Flanagan

With a playoff win on the line, Miami Beach rose to the challenge on Monday. Everything went their way against the Flanagan Falcons as they made off with a 20-5 win. The Hi-Tides' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Anna Mesarina was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebecca Baldi, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Miami Beach always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Flanagan only posted an OBP of .389.

Miami Beach's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.1 runs over those games. As for Flanagan, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Miami Beach will take on Doral Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Firebirds will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Hi-Tides surely won't give up without a fight. Flanagan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
