Basketball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Tradition Prep's Tenth in Last 12 Outings

On Wednesday, the Tradition Prep Pirates beat the Oxbridge Academy ThunderWolves 73-66. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the ThunderWolves are ranked 579th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tradition Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayden Harris out in front who went 7 for 11 en route to 17 points and seven rebounds. Harris continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Avery Johnson, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 19 points.

Tradition Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oxbridge Academy only posted ten assists.

Oxbridge Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Edmyer StJean, who went 6 for 11 en route to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden St. Fort, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 17 points.

Tradition Prep is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Oxbridge Academy, they dropped their record down to 4-12 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Tradition Prep will face off against Somerset College Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Oxbridge Academy has already played their next contest (against Avant Garde Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
