Softball Game Preview: Clinton Maroons vs. Tuscola Warriors

Clinton is 1-9 against Tuscola since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Maroons will host the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Clinton has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Clinton's offense. They lost 15-0 to Argenta-Oreana on Tuesday. The Maroons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Tuscola came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Indians.

Bayleigh Taylor was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Ava Boyer was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Sawyer Cleland was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Tuscola's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Clinton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
