Baseball Game Preview: Basic Wolves vs. Faith Lutheran Crusaders

Basic and Faith Lutheran are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Wolves will welcome the Crusaders at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last three games Basic has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Basic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They beat Faith Lutheran by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Troy Southisene made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Tate Southisene was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Lyndon Lee, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Basic pushed their record up to 21-6 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Faith Lutheran, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-15 record this season.
