Baseball Recap: Bullitt Central Victorious

Bullitt Central's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Anderson County Bearcats, sneaking past 5-3. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Mason Burton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bullitt Central is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Bullitt Central's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Logan Leber, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another was Jordan Powell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Bullitt Central's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Anderson County, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 8-6.

Looking ahead, Bullitt Central will head out on the road to square off against Southern at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Anderson County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Woodford County at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
