Basketball Recap: Macey Pugh Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Crawfordsville

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Terre Haute South Vigo, Cascade was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 58-33 margin over the Crawfordsville Athenians. The Cadets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Athenians, too.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cascade to victory, but perhaps none more so than Macey Pugh, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Addy Thompson, who posted 13 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Cascade smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crawfordsville only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.

Crawfordsville's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Molly Pierce, who earned 12 points and six boards. Olivia Hedrick was another key player, putting up four points and seven rebounds.

The win got Cascade back to even at 1-1. As for Crawfordsville, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Cascade will welcome South Putnam at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Crawfordsville, they will head out on the road to square off against Fountain Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
