Softball Recap: Howell Snags 14th Victory in Last 16 Games

With a playoff win on the line, Howell rose to the challenge on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past the Brighton Bulldogs 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Highlanders have posted since May 10th.

Allison Ulanowski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Easton Lavery, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Zoey Overton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Howell has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-13-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Brighton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-25-1 record this season.

Howell will take on Grand Blanc at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Brighton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
