Softball Recap: Normal University Victorious

Normal University took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Lincoln, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Pioneers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Railsplitters 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pioneers have posted since March 30th.

Maci Meisner was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nicole Ekhoff, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Normal University and bumps their season record up to 12-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Lincoln, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Normal University will challenge Mahomet-Seymour at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lincoln, they will square off against Metamora at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
