The Scott Skyhawks will challenge the Roane County Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Scott's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Roane County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Scott and Logan had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Skyhawks took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats on Tuesday. Skyhawks fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Wildcats since on Tuesday.
Scott saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blayne Kuhn, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Roane County). Everything went their way against Poca on Tuesday as they made off with a 17-1 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Raiders as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
C KINDER made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. KINDER was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, C CUMPSTON was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing five bases while going 1-for-3. A THORNABAR was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.
Roane County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Roane County's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Scott, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4-2.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Scott has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .474. However, it's not like Roane County struggles in that department as they've averaged .435. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Scott beat Roane County 8-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2018. Will the Skyhawks repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
