Vienna took a 14-run defeat the last time they faced off against Zeigler-Royalton, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tornadoes on Wednesday, sneaking past 3-1. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 17-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Jackson Ethridge was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braedon Hurst, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Vienna's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-8. As for Zeigler-Royalton, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-4.

Vienna will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tornadoes: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
