Recap: Palisades Pumas vs. South Mecklenburg Sabres

The Palisades Pumas pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 75-56 to South Mecklenburg. Palisades was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as South Mecklenburg apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Palisades lost, one person who can't be blamed is Chris Jackson. Despite the final result, he scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Those six rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Cazzie Williams, who scored nine points.

Ben Houpt continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for South Mecklenburg, going 7 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 4 assists. That's the first time this season that Houpt scored 15 or more points. Peter Moye was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.

Palisades' loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for South Mecklenburg, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Palisades is on the road again on Thursday and play against Jackson Day at 4:00 p.m. on December 21st. Jackson Day knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Palisades likes a good challenge. As for South Mecklenburg, they will head out on the road to face off against Mooresville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
