Softball Recap: St. Charles East Comes Up Short

St. Charles East blew Naperville Central out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Naperville Central got their revenge. The Fighting Saints fell just short of the Redhawks by a score of 10-8. The Fighting Saints were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Redhawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2019.

Hayden Sujack was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Alyse Price, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

St. Charles East has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.83 runs. As for Naperville Central, they pushed their record up to 10-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Charles East will host Lake Park at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Naperville Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against DeKalb at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Barbs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.87 runs per game on average), something the Redhawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
