Basketball Recap: Hug Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Hug can now relate to. They took a hard 57-38 fall against the Fernley Vaqueros on Monday. The Hawks haven't had much luck with the Vaqueros recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Fernley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taylor Tollestrup, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. Tollestrup has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaelece Wasson, who went 5 of 8 en route to 13 points.

Hug's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Fernley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.

Hug does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fernley, they will challenge North Valleys at 6:20 p.m. on Friday. North Valleys knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Fernley likes a good challenge.
