Basketball Recap: Crossland Cavaliers vs. Fairmont Heights Hornets
Crossland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 36-23 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fairmont Heights Hornets. The Cavaliers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Hornets from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.
Crossland's loss came despite strong showings from Ramia Alston and Myli Granados. Alston posted 12 points, while Granados earned six points.
Fairmont Heights' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nevaeh Payne, who put up nine points and four steals. Payne continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniya Green, who scored six points and six steals.
Crossland's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Fairmont Heights, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

As for Fairmont Heights, they will face off against Douglass at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Douglass will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Fairmont Heights surely won't give up without a fight.
