Softball Recap: Metro-East Lutheran Comes Up Short

If Metro-East Lutheran was feeling good fresh off their 18-1 takedown of Althoff Catholic on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knights lost 10-1 to the Marquette Catholic Explorers on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Explorers: they've now lost four in a row.

Alexis Weber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and six unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Metro-East Lutheran saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Weber, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Metro-East Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Marquette Catholic, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-10.

While Metro-East Lutheran had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
