Soccer Game Preview: Rantoul vs. Monticello

Rantoul has not had much luck against Monticello over the past nine seasons, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will head out to square off against the Sages at 4:30 p.m. Monticello is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.6 goals per game this season.

Rantoul had been on a two-game streak of scoring at least four goals, but Normal West put an end to it on Monday. The Eagles came up short against the Wildcats, falling 4-1. While losing is never fun, Rantoul can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 190th, while Normal West are ranked 40th).

Meanwhile, Monticello has not lost a match since August 25th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Thursday. The Sages and St. Thomas More finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw. The result (or lack thereof) was the first time Monticello have been dealt a draw since August 24th.

Rantoul's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. With that draw, Monticello's record moves to 5-1-2.
