Preview: Northside - Jacksonville Monarchs vs. Jacksonville Cardinals
The Northside - Jacksonville Monarchs will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Jacksonville Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Northside - Jacksonville is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home.
Northside - Jacksonville fell victim to Havelock's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Rams, falling 54-0. While losing is never fun, Northside - Jacksonville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 297th, while Havelock is ranked 34th).
Meanwhile, Jacksonville can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 42-14 victory over South Central. Jacksonville pushed the score to 42-6 by the end of the third, a deficit South Central cut but never quite recovered from.
Jacksonville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Demon June led the charge by rushing for 100 yards and two touchdowns. June is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last seven games he's played. Jaquial Bagley got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Havelock's win bumped their season record to 9-0 while Northside - Jacksonville's defeat dropped theirs to 1-8.
Things could have been worse for Northside - Jacksonville, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 40-21 loss to Jacksonville when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Will Northside - Jacksonville have more luck at home instead of on the road?
