Northeast Ohio - River recap Oct. 9, 2012

North Royalton extended the longest winning streak in Northeast Ohio - River this week by beating Mayfield, 42-35. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Bears.

Stow-Munroe Falls made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,521 from 4,672. The improvement was the result of 38-0 victory over the Bulldogs last week.

North Royalton's dynamic duo of Travis Tarnowski and Nick Krempasky proved tough for the Wildcats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Tarnowski threw for 284 yards and three touchdowns and Krempasky had 122 yards receiving. Carl Lint helped North Royalton's passing attack out by catching four balls for 81 yards.

Jumarr Lewis was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 149 yards as Elyria bested Mayfield. Teammate Jordan Connell added to the ground attack by rushing for 122 yards.

The Bears' Tarnowski and Krempasky have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Tarnowski has thrown for 1850 yards this season, while Krempasky, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 26 catches for 560 yards. Connell from the Pioneers leads the league in rushing with 697 yards.

Going into this week's game against Cuyahoga Falls, North Royalton's Tarnowski needs 150 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.

A big matchup in Northeast Ohio - River this week will be when the Bears take on the Black Tigers. North Royalton is in first place, while Cuyahoga Falls is in fifth place.

The Bears led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on Larry Pinto's team. Tarnowski ran for 66 yards in the win.
