Conant has gone a perfect 3-0 against Glenbard East recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Cougars will head out to face off against the Rams at 4:30 p.m. Conant is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Conant was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Saint Viator on Friday. The Cougars blew past the Lions 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Cailyn Kehoe was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Sophia Gomez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Glenbard East hadn't beaten Larkin on the road since May 17, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Rams walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Royals.
Claire Bolda spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lilly Carver, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Melissa Saldana, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Conant has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Glenbard East, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Conant has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Glenbard East struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Conant's way against Glenbard East in their previous matchup back in April of 2021, as Conant made off with a 21-8 win. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
