Softball Recap: Triad Comes Up Short

Triad extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 3-14. They lost 14-3 to the Southeastern Local Trojans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 16-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Triad saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addisyn Matthews, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

As for Southeastern Local, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2. Considering they have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

On Southeastern Local's side, Reese R Wells was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. R Wells has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Morgen Watson and Kami Horner did most of the damage at the plate: Watson went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Horner went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Horner has posted over her last 11 matchups. Another player making a difference was Jolie Henderson, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Looking ahead, Triad will challenge Mechanicsburg at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.36 runs per game on average), something the Cardinals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Southeastern Local, they will be taking part in a tournament against Fort Loramie at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
