Volleyball Recap: Perry-Lecompton Comes Up Short

Perry-Lecompton's tournament run continued when they took on Hays on Saturday. The Kaws fell just short of the Indians by a score of 2-1.

Macie Corcoran paced Perry-Lecompton's offense, picking up 16 kills. Corcoran got some help from Emmy Reed and her 32 assists. Reed was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Hays found their leader in freshman Gianna Offutt, who had seven digs and three aces. Those three aces set a new season-high mark for Offutt. Sylvia Johnson also deserves some recognition as she had her first kills of the season.

Perry-Lecompton has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-10 record this season. As for Hays, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-9.

Perry-Lecompton has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against Jefferson West on the 7th. As for Hays, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Garden City on the 7th.
