Baseball Game Preview: Otis Bulldogs vs. Wiley Panthers

The Otis Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Wiley Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Otis is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.2 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Otis needed a bit of extra time to put away McClave. They put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 19-8 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Gavin Price made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Price was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 1-for-6. He is becoming a predictor of Otis' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Tayte Smith was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Mitchell Stivers, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-5.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Wiley faced off against Cheyenne Wells on Tuesday. The Panthers took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers.

Otis' record is now 11-3. As for Wiley, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-10-1.
