Baseball Recap: Highlands Takes a Loss

Highlands lost against Golden Sierra last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Highlands lost 23-6 to Golden Sierra. The Scots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cristiano Showen was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Highlands' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-6 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Rodrigo Pomposo, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Highlands' loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Golden Sierra, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 7-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Highlands will head out to take on Mesa Verde at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Golden Sierra, they will venture away from home to square off against Rio Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rio Vista has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.2 runs per game on average), something Golden Sierra will no doubt try to take advantage of.
