Basketball Recap: Floyd Central Takes a Loss

Floyd Central was the 57-53 winner over Letcher County Central when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Floyd Central Jaguars fell 67-60 to the Letcher County Central Cougars / Lady Cougars on Friday.

Despite the loss, Floyd Central saw an underclassman step up: freshman Maddy Engle shot 83% from the field on her way to 23 points and seven boards. Reagan Laferty was another key player, putting up 14 points and six rebounds.

Floyd Central's defeat dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Letcher County Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.

Floyd Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-55 loss against Prestonsburg on the 24th. Letcher County Central has also already played their next contest (against Estill County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
