Baseball Recap: Centennial Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Centennial won the last time they faced Nogales and things went their way on Monday too. The Coyotes came out on top against the Apaches by a score of 6-1.

Cohen Baack was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, JT Price was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Bobby Villa III, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Centennial's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Nogales, their loss dropped their record down to 19-10-1.

Coming up, Centennial is taking a road trip to challenge Canyon del Oro at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dorados will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something the Coyotes surely won't give up without a fight. Nogales does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
